“Ukubhaka kuyingxenye yalawo makhono awusizo ongawafundela. Uma unogesi noma igesi kanye nesitofu, ungaphila kahle.
“Uyazikalela ukuthi ufuna ukubhaka into engakanani.
“Abantu ababhakela emakhaya abawasweli amakhasimende. Abantu bahlale bedinga amakhekhe emishado, okugubha izinsuku zokuzalwa, emingcwabo nawemicimbi yokwethweswa kweziqu.
“Ngeke uyiswele imali uma udayisela abantu okuyikhwalithi ngenani elikahle.”
Omunye umfundi osevuna izithelo ezinhle ngenxa yokufunda kulesi sikole nguNonhlanhla Khumalo onebhizinisi lokubhaka ekhaya. Ubhaka amakhekhe emishado.
“Sekuphele unyaka ngiqede ukufundela ukubhaka kanti ukufundela ukubhaka amakhekhe omshado kona kwathatha usuku olulodwa kuphela,” kusho yena.
“Imali yangena ngokushesha. Bonke abantu bangafunda ukubhaka kodwa kuyasiza nokuba nothando.
“Ngiseyingane ngangintshontsha amaresiphi ka-anti bese ngiyabhaka uma engekho.
“Lokho kwangenza ngabona ukuthi uNkulunkulu Wanginika izandla zaleli khono nokufanele ukuba ngizisebenzise.”
Ngesikhathi sixoxisana noNonhlanhla wayenama-oda amakhekhe omshado angu-50 nokuyinto okwakufanele ukuba ayenze esikhathini sezinyanga ezintathu!
“Namanje ngisasebenzela ekhaya nokuyinto enginika ubunzima ngoba ngihlala nabomndeni wami - kufanele ngibhake kuphela uma bengalisebenzisi ikhishi. Ngingathanda ukuthola eyami indawo engizowuqhubela khona lo msebenzi.” kusho uNonhlanhla.
Amakilasi okufundela lo msebenzi eThola Ulwazi angena izinsuku ezine njalo ekuseni esontweni kuze kube amasonto amane. Ekupheleni kwaleso sikhathi, abafundi basuke sebekwazi ukubhaka izinhlobonhlobo zamakhekhe njengama-scones, ama-muffins, ama-queen cakes nama-“beer box” cakes. (Lawa yiwo ajwayelekile emicimbini kanti uma uwuqala phansi lo msebenzi, akudingi uze uthenge ipani elikhulu lokubhaka. Ikhekhe ulibhaka ebhokisini likabhiya elendlalwe i-wax paper bese ulihlobisa.)

Vanilla Beer Box Cake
Izithako
2 izinkomishi (500ml) ushukela
240g imajarini
1 i-teaspoon (5ml) i-vanilla essence
4 amaqanda amakhulu
4 izinkomishi
(1 000ml) i-cake flour
5 ama-teaspoon (25ml) i-baking powder
1/2 i-teaspoon (2,5ml) usawoti
1 inkomishi (250ml) ubisi, noma amanzi owahlanganise nobisi
imajarini yokugcoba
Indlela yokwenza
1. Endishini phehla imajarini noshukela. Kuhlanganise, ingxube ize ibe lula.
2. Faka i-vanilla essence namaqanda bese ukushaya.
3. Kwenye indishi, sefa ndawonye ufulawa, i-baking powder nosawoti.
4. Faka ufulawa kancane kancane engxubeni yemajarini. Faka ubisi namanzi ukuhlanganisise kahle. (Qaphela ungakuhlanganisisi isikhathi eside.)
5. Kancane gcoba i-wax paper uyendlale ebhokisini likabhiya. Thela inhlama. (Uma uzosebenzisa ithreyi likahhavini, kufanele libe ngu-36 x 27cm, 5cm ukushona bese uligcobisisa.) Bhaka kuhhavini oqale washisiswa ngezinga elingu-170oC imizuzu engu-35-45.
6. Kugudluze kuhhavini ukuyeke kusethe imizuzu emihlanu.
7. Kuphendulele kwi-cooling rack. Kuyeke kuphole kahle ngaphambi kokukuhlobisa nge-Butter Icing.
Butter Icing
Izithako
3 izinkomishi (750ml) i-icing sugar
150g imajarini
1 i-teaspoon (5ml) i-vanilla essence
amanzi amancane
Indlela yokwenza
1. Endishini hlanganisa ndawonye i-icing sugar, imajarini ne-vanilla essence. Kuhlanganise kahle.
2. Faka amanzi kancane kancane, ukuhlanganise i-icing ize ibe sakhilimu. Kufake phezu kwekhekhe.
Kubiza: R18 (Ikhekhe ungalidayisa ngo-R70.)
Ungalisika kuphume izingxenye ezingu-30.

Izithako
2 izinkomishi (500ml) ufulawa
1 isipuni (15ml) i-baking powder
1/2 i-teaspoon (2,5ml) usawoti
4 ama-teaspoon (20ml) ushukela (ngokuthanda kwakho)
1 iqanda
3 izipuni (45ml) uwoyela
1/2 inkomishi (125ml) i-buttermilk
1 okweqanda okuphuzi
1 isipuni (15ml) ubisi
Indlela yokwenza
1. Endishini sefa ndawonye ufulawa, i-baking powder nosawoti izikhathi ezintathu. Faka ushukela.
2. Kwenye indishi hlanganisa ndawonye iqanda, uwoyela ne-buttermilk.
3. Thela ingxube ye-buttermilk kufulawa bese ushesha uyisika ngommbese. (Uma yome kakhulu, faka futhi kancane i-buttermilk.)
4. Endaweni ebhuqwe ngofulawa, xova kahle. Yenza inhlama ibe lugqinsi olungu-2cm. Sika ama-scones usebenzisa i-scone-cutter noma umlomo wengilazi.
5. Beka ama-scones kwi-baking sheet egcotshisiwe. Ngaphezulu abrashe ngokweqanda okuphuzi nobisi.
6. Bhaka kuhhavini oshisiswe ngezinga elingu-200oC imizuzu engu-10-15 aze akhukhumale kahle abe nsunjwana ngombala.
Kubiza: R5 (Ungawadayisa R1,20 lilinye.)
