Fields filter panel overview

The Fields filter shows all the fields contained in the system. The following fields can be activated as filters:

 

1.Record fields

Specify specific record attribute fields on which to filter.

 

2.Index fields

Specify specific Index fields on which to filter.

 

3.Attribute fields

Specify attribute fields of the parent Index fields on which to filter. Note that the parent Index fields must also be activated.

 Sub-attribute fields

   Specifies the sub-attribute fields on which to filter; only available for Synonym attribute fields.

 

Each of the fields has to following options, which are shown in the Fields Properties dialog when the field is clicked:

 

4.This field filter is active

Activates the specific field in the Fields filters.

 

5.Contains\Does not contain

Contains: Lists all of the records that contain this specific field.

Does not contain: Lists all of the records that does not contain this specific field.

 

6.AND\OR

AND: Using this operator the filter will find all of the records that contain this defined field as well as the next defined field.

OR: Using this operator, the filter will find all of the records that contain either this defined field or the next defined field.

 

7.Field value

Here you can enter specific text that the chosen field should contain. You may use the wildcard characters * and ?. When you select a field with a predefined list of values, you will be able to choose one of those values.

 

Be extremely careful when using the field filter to not construct too complex filters or filters that will contain no records.

 

 

Filter containing a Record attribute field

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Record fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select a record attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

9.Click the Set filter button.

10.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the specified record attribute field will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter not containing a Record attribute field

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Record fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select a record attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Does not contain" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

9.Click the Set filter button.

10.The filter will be set and all of the records that do not contain the specified record attribute field will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing a Record attribute field with specific text

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Record fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select a record attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Enter some text into the Field value text box.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the record attribute field with the specified text will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing multiple Record attribute fields

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Record fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select a record attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option in the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Select another record attribute field to open the Field properties dialog.

11.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

12.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

13.Click the Set filter button.

14.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain both of the specified record attribute fields will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing an Index field

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

9.Click the Set filter button.

10.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the specified index field will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing an Attribute field

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Expand the Attribute fields of the selected Index field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

11.Select an Attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

12.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

13.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

14.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

15.Click the Set filter button.

16.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the specified attribute field for the index field will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing an Attribute field with a specific value

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Expand the Attribute fields of the selected Index field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

11.Select an Attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

12.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

13.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

14.Enter some text into the Field value text box.

15.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

16.Click the Set filter button.

17.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the Index and Attribute field with the specified value for the attribute field will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing a Sub-attribute field

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Expand the Attribute fields of the selected Index field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

11.Select the Synonym attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: Only the Synonym attribute field may have sub-attribute fields.

12.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

13.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

14.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

15.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

16.Expand the Sub-attribute fields of the Synonym field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

17.Select a sub-attribute field from the list of displayed Sub-attributes; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

18.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

19.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

20.Click the Set filter button.

21.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the specified sub-attribute field for the Synonym field of the Index field will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter containing multiple Index fields

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Select another Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

11.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

12.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

13.Click the Set filter button.

14.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain both the specified index fields will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

Note: Be careful when specifying the OR operator between multiple Index fields; it might take a long time for the filter to be set. Always check if the same results can be obtained by using AND operators.

 

 

Filter containing multiple Attribute fields

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Expand the Attribute fields of the selected Index field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

11.Select an Attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

12.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

13.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

14.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

15.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

16.Select another Attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

17.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

18.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

19.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

20.Click the Set filter button.

21.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain the specified attribute fields for the index fields will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

Filter records that contain two index fields, but do not have a definition for one of them

 

1.Open the Filter dialog

2.Click on the "Select Termbase" drop-down list and choose the appropriate Termbase.

3.Expand the Field filters by clicking on the tb_filter_expand_icon icon.

4.Expand the Index Fields section by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

5.Select an Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

Note: If you have defined a source language and then attempt to filter by a different index field, all of the found records might not be loaded into the Termbrowser.

6.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

7.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

8.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

9.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

10.Expand the Attribute fields of the selected Index field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

11.Select the Definition attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

12.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

13.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

14.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

15.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

16.Select another Index field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

17.Select the "Contains" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

18.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

19.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

20.Expand the Attribute fields of the newly selected Index field by clicking on the bullet_toggle_plus icon.

21.Select the Definition attribute field from the list of displayed fields; the Field properties dialog will be shown.

22.Check the "The field filter is active" checkbox.

23.Select the "Does not contain" option from the Contains/Does not contain drop-down list.

24.Select the "AND" option from the AND/OR drop-down list.

25.Press the Close button on the Field properties dialog.

26.Click the Set filter button.

27.The filter will be set and all of the records that contain a definition for the first index field, but do not contain a definition for the second index field, will be loaded into the Termbrowser.

 

 

This procedure above shows a practical way to check for records that need their definition for the second Index field completed. This can be used in conjunction with the Termbase and Project and\or the User and Dates filters to further narrow down the results.
