1. The Afrikaans lexical blend dataset

A dataset of observed Afrikaans lexical blends, their source words, as well
as the R code used to measure similarity and edit distances.

The main directory contains three files:

README
Versmeltings.csv
Blends_Distance

An extract from Versmeltings.csv showing the blends and their source words:

    1. Extract from csv-file: Versmeltings.csv

    SW1 Blend SW2
	web webinaar	seminaar
	bewaar bewarea area
	Zuma Zupta Gupta
	Ramaphosa	Ramaforie	euforie

The first column (SW1) contains the first word used to form the blended
Afrikaans word contained in the second column (Blend). The third column
(SW2) contains the second source word used to construct the blend.

The file "Blends_Distance" is a R file, but can also be opened in any
text editor. This file contains comments as well as the R code that
is used to analyse the lexical blends (i.e. measuring their edit
distances as well as similarities as it relates to characters that
they share or don't share).
